Your turn to kick a goal (English for football)

Abstract

''Your turn to kick a goal" is a content-based instruction (CBI) course designed specifically for football players, referees, and coaches at the GOALS (Girls of Armenia Leadership Soccer) organization in Armenia. The purpose of this course is to enhance the learners’ knowledge of English language through football-based themes. The teacher’s manual provides interactive lesson plans for teachers that develop grammar, vocabulary, listening, reading, and speaking skills via football. The book contains about twenty hours of instructional material. The piloting lasted five weeks, twice a week for one hundred and fifty minutes per lesson. The course aimed at fostering communication skills, as well as English grammar, vocabulary and the language skills relevant to the learners' needs. Moreover, the course offers adequate knowledge about football-related vocabulary and football jargon.
