Abstract:
The purpose of this project was to create a course that would enhance creativity in young learners’ mind and teach vocabulary through meaningful context. The course aims at making the learning process engaging and interesting for young learners through fun activities. The course helps to improve the young learners’ language, cognitive, fine and gross motor skills. The course has been designed after a needs and benchmark analysis conducted in two different preschool programs. The piloting of the ten weeks’ course took place with young learners aged between three and five at the Sprout preschool program of the American University of Armenia. The 20-hour course is theme-based, consists of five themes and 10 stories. The young learners are assessed through pretest, posttest, attendance, portfolio for crafts, and teacher checklist. The course includes a variety of arts and crafts, games, songs, physical activities, and science experiments. The course is designed using lesson plans for each class.
