Abstract:
Teacher`s Resources include:
1) Teacher`s Guide, which provides activity instructions and photocopiable activities
2) Teacher`s Slides that are used for pre-reading listening, post-listening and vocabulary teaching activities
The Teacher`s Guide aims to help teachers to facilitate students` learning process. It suggests diverse activities to make vocabulary and content learning as intelligible as possible. Besides providing additional instructions for carrying out specific grammar and speaking activities, the Teacher`s Guide focuses on two main aspects: 1) facilitating the comprehension of the reading texts and elaborating on the concepts before the actual reading; 2) teaching and reinforcing vocabulary
Facilitation of concepts
These types of activities are pre-reading listening activities that aim to make the difficult concepts of the reading texts more understandable. During these types of activities, which come before the reading text, it is advisable that the teacher speaks slowly, stresses the key words that can be unfamiliar to the students, and repeats when necessary.
At the beginning of every class it is strongly advised that the teacher revisits the concepts covered during the previous class. This course is about science and given the age and English proficiency of students and the nature of incremental learning, it is important to revisit previous concepts across the course, for example, via warm-up activities.
Teaching and reinforcing vocabulary
These types of activities will help the teacher to teach and reinforce newly learned words.
The Teacher`s Slides are used for specific activities. Those activities are in the Teacher`s Guide with the reference to the Teacher`s Slides.
