Abstract:
The purpose of this project is to develop an ESP course for the needs of history major students. It was developed based on the needs of students of the history department. The course aims to enrich the learners’ history related vocabulary, foster their critical thinking by reflecting on the material of the covered topics, and develop communicative skills through the discussion of historical material. The course comprises seven topics related to Armenian history. It includes eleven lesson plans, authentic materials, visual aids, and adapted reading texts, as well as videos to facilitate listening. The course was piloted at the Armenian State Pedagogical University after Kh. Abovyan (ASPU). The outcomes show that the course has achieved the set goals, as well as met the learners’ needs.
