Abstract:
The purpose of this project was to design a preschool curriculum for Sprout, a Preschool English program that belongs to the American University of Armenia. This course aimed to engage children in the use of basic English appropriate to their level and create an English-speaking environment in the preschool. Eight weeks course was implemented with children aging from three to five years old. The course consisted of four themes and follow-up language tests to assess children’s achievement for each theme. The course included various types of activities and projects such as arts and craft projects, stories, science experiments, indoor games, physical and character-building activities. The course was piloted at the AUA Sprout Preschool English Program. Based on the evaluation evidence, the learners successfully met the goals and objectives of the course. In addition to the course materials, this capstone includes reflections on the piloting experience and recommendations for other teachers that wish to adopt these materials.
