dc.description.abstract " English for Tour Guides " is an ESP course, which aims at fostering English language skills relevant to the professional needs of future guides engaged in incoming tourism of Armenia. The course was piloted at American University of Armenia. The learners were eight professional tour guides who conducted their tours in Armenian. Their age ranged between 22 and 40. The project deliverables comprise a detailed syllabus, assessment plan with grading rubrics and checklists, as well as ten lesson plans with all the handouts and necessary materials for the lessons. The overall effectiveness of the course was evaluated through a survey questionnaire. The course evaluation results showed that the course was overall successful and it met its goals and learning outcomes. At the end of the course the students were able to act as tour guides speaking in English. en_US
