dc.description.abstract Character Building through Teaching English‖ is a reading and speaking EFL course that focuses on ―Character Education‖ through the use of fables. It aims to transmit understanding of positive character traits and engage students in critical thinking on moral and ethical issues. This course addresses core values through a variety of reading and speaking activities using fables and character building tasks. The course is designed for twenty (20) hours of instruction. The course incorporates fifteen (15) lesson plans with each lesson focusing on one of the six thematic units— trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship. The assessment tools— self-evaluation checklist, portfolio and poster presentation—allow reflection and engagement with the material covered in the course.
