dc.description.abstract Public schools form the primary stage of education and play an important role in the educational hierarchy of the Republic. The schools provide the individuals with fundamental knowledge and promote formation of the individual as a member of society. The world is undergoing changes that make it much more difficult to thrive without the skills and tools that a high quality education provides. This is particularly important for the poor, who have to rely on their skills as the main, if not the only, means of escaping poverty. In this way, new challenges and opportunities arise for education. In these, Armenian secondary education system is not an exception, and new challenges can only be met by means of reformation of the secondary education system. Generally, education tries to solve the major economic and social challenges a country faces and goes hand in hand with a country’s economic and social demands. Given the importance of education this work focuses on problems of Armenian secondary education from the World Bank’s perspective on quality secondary education. Analyzing the shortcomings, it currently faces the work suggests reorganization of schools, maintenance of maximum enrollment, modern curricula geared to the new technological age, and the real needs of the emerging local needs, effective teacher training and school administration system as means to improve the situation. en_US
