dc.description.abstract Energy security constitutes a key element of national security of any state. This claim is of particular importance for the states that lack their own energy resources. Armenia, which ensures its energy security mainly through the import of energy carrier, falls into this category. Such energy dependence of Armenia is fraught not only with political dependence on the energy-exporting countries, but threatens the energy security of the Republic in case of different force-majeure situations as well. For the purpose of overcoming these challenges and ensuring a certain level of energy self-sufficiency of Armenia, the authorities of the Republic should extensively develop renewable energy simultaneously with the development of available components of energy system. en_US
