<title>Family planning promotion</title>
<link>https://dspace.aua.am/xmlui/handle/123456789/1334</link>
<description>Family planning promotion
Grigorian, Angela R.; Hakobian, Ivetta K.; Hakobian, Rouzanna E.; Porsughyan, Arman R.
The family planning promotion is a service that attempts to prevent unwanted pregnancies by increasing the usage of different kinds of contraceptives in order to decrease the number of abortions and, therefore, eliminate its negative effect on women’s reproductive health. In Armenia there is an observed weakness of both family planning service, and information and knowledge about contraception. In order to find a solution to this the project group was designed to perform the feasibility study on Family Planning Promotion. This study includes the assessment of the current situation on the availability, affordability and accessibility of contraceptives in Yerevan, IUDs, condoms, oral contraceptives particularly, and availability and accessibility of information to the population of reproductive age.&#13;
To accomplish this study the ultimate and immediate objectives were set for each two parts of the project. To meet these objectives during the study, the project group conducted two surveys. First, there was a survey of contraceptive distributing/selling facilities in different regions of Yerevan. The purpose was to assess the current extent of availability, affordability and accessibility of contraceptives in all regions of Yerevan. Second, a survey on assessment of current situation of usage of, knowledge about and attitude toward contraceptives (in popular IUDs, oral contraceptives and condoms) was conducted among the population of reproductive age. In addition, study group interviewed Deputy Minister of Health, President of the Armenian Family Health Association and Director of Erebuni Women Reproductive Health Care Center. Several seminars on relevant topics were attended, as well.&#13;
During this study the group observed that the level of availability and affordability is relatively sufficient and only accessibility is still a problem. The reasons are lack of knowledge/information, the social culture and the poor Family Planning Service in Armenia. However, one and basic solution to these problems and to the increasing of availability, affordability and accessibility of contraceptives is the necessity to focus the attention on short-term educational and information campaigns. It is also important to conduct training, teenagers and parents education programs. Moreover, it is worthwhile to establish long-term contact with different target groups via brochures allocated to high schools, universities, policlinics, other medical facilities, Marital Status Registration Agencies and so forth. Another way to provide target population with up-to-date information is commercials on ORT/CTR. These are the two main sources of information (TV, brochures) that respondents marked during survey as the most obtainable. In addition to educational and information campaigns, it is recommended to increase both the availability of all worldwide used contraceptives and the availability of different brands of specific contraception mean in Yerevan.

<title>The process of privatization in Armenia : research project</title>
<link>https://dspace.aua.am/xmlui/handle/123456789/1333</link>
<description>The process of privatization in Armenia : research project
Aharonyan, Anahit; Sakanyan, Tsovinar
One of the main goals during the process of transition to market oriented economy is increase in the efficiency of enterprises’ performance. Emergence of private owners is also very important. The reforms in Armenia’s economy started and are going on under deep crisis conditions. Low efficiency, lack of levers stimulating active entrepreneurial activities, structural disproportions and deficit of resources don’t facilitate recovery and effective performance of economy. Negative results of price liberalization and sharp decrease in purchasing power at the first stage of market reforms have sharpened the solvency problem and brought up the problem of mass bankruptcy of enterprises. All these difficulties were intensified owing to Karabagh war and blockades in Armenia, which brought to energetic crisis in Armenia. Despite all these difficulties Armenia is moving to free market economy.&#13;
Privatization as one of the important levers of transition period is yet in process. More than 1500 large and medium size enterprises are already privatized. However, many of them do not have experience to compete in market economy. So, one of the primary problems for these enterprises is the implementation of effective mechanisms of management used in market economies.&#13;
To find out obstacles for progress in the sector of industrial manufacturing, we have to look at the following environments:&#13;
•	Macro (or external) environment&#13;
•	Micro (or internal) environment&#13;
The assessment and analysis of these environments for different industries are the preliminary conditions ensuring long-term economic growth. To estimate the real state of privatized enterprises we will use SWOT analysis, analyzing main industries in manufacturing sector (Chemicals and pharmaceutical; Electronics, electric and machinery; Light industry; Food processing; Furniture industry).&#13;
The study is based on two parallel investigations: 1. a detailed examination of the process followed by Armenia in privatizing the industrial manufacturing sector, covering years 1991-2000 and 2. A follow-up sample survey of 25 privatized enterprises in that sector.

<description>Influence of tax policy on the building materials’ productivity : research project
Margaryan, Araxya; Madoyan, Elmira
In recent years Armenia has made significant changes in the way it conducts tax policy. In particular, the building trade has been affected by these changes. This project examines the key issues associated with the recent changes in tax policy and analyzes various indicators of building trade operational framework. It focuses on possible effects of tax influence on building trade in Armenia. There is evidence that the tax policy is applied to small and large business differently.

<title>Restructuring and reorganization plan : "Mrrik" company's sock and stocking plant</title>
<link>https://dspace.aua.am/xmlui/handle/123456789/1328</link>
<description>Restructuring and reorganization plan : "Mrrik" company's sock and stocking plant
Muradian, Anoush; Khanian, Vardan; Melkonyan, Artak
The main objective of this plan is to implement financial and organizational restructuring, which will allow the MRRIK sock and socking producing company to operate effectively and efficiently under the current conditions of transitional period in the economy.&#13;
The MRRIK’s administrative, financial, and inventory operations and logistics were developed for working as a state company under the tight control of the Ministry of Industry, and in accordance with the conditions of command economy. In the beginning of 1990s, after the liberalization of economy this way of working proved to be absolutely ineffective. The company is going to be completely privatized by the end of 1996 and the management of the company is interested in restructuring of the company in a way that will make the company to operate effectively under current conditions of economy in Armenia.&#13;
After the careful study of the main problems caused by internal factors at the company, the following steps are suggested.&#13;
•	Change organizational structure of company and introduce rational principles for administrative management&#13;
•	Introduce some methods of financial management and managerial accounting, adapt them to needs of the company&#13;
•	Develop inventory management system which will allow to have efficient control system and effectively meet seasonal demand&#13;
The main risk of the implementation of this plan is considered to be the resistance of some groups of workers and people from staff due two factors: unavoidable layoffs and tightening of work process control.&#13;
Calculations show that implementation of the project will result in 2,5% decrease in fixed cost, 9% decrease in average variable cost of a unit, 22% increase in operating profit, 50% decrease in average level of inventory, improvement of collections of receivables and overall cash management.&#13;
According to estimations, implementation of the project requires about 12.5 million drams. The life of the project is considered to be 5 year. Given the discount rate (cost of capital) 72%, which is a normal rate for companies in Armenia, The IRR of the project equals 137%.
